Over the last couple days there has been a serious
degradation of keyboard interaction. Many pages are very difficult
to navigate.

One example is the above bug report

First example
1) Open new window with ctl N
2) paste with middle button the url
2) use down arrow to move down a line
-- window jumps to end of whole bug report (several pages)
-- further keyboard navigation is dead


second example

1)Open window with ctl N
2) paste url with middle button
3) space to move down:
-- nothing happens
4) click in window
5) space to move down:
   we page down correctly.
6) space again to move down further
-->nothing happens.

To enable permanant focus of the main frame at www.wired.com one has to
click in frame THEN tab once. Then space works properly.
Down arrow is still dead however

100% reproducable
seen in
Mozilla 0.9.9+
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.9+) Gecko/20020417
and also in
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0rc1) Gecko/20020416

Suse Linux 7.3. Mozilla installed from mozilla.org binaries.

Can only reproduce this on pages with (i)frames..

This has been marked as a duplicate of  bug 100547.
This bug refers to pages with frames

does not have frames.

I'll just talk about a long bugzilla page:

1)Open above url by pasting into new window --OK
2)Space to move done                        --OK
3)Down arrow to scrol down                  --Bad go to end of page.
4) up arrow to move up                      --bad does not move
5) Page up several times                    --OK This works
6) Space to move down                       --Bad space does nothing.
7) Click once in page                       
8) Space                                    --OK the page moves down
9) Space again                              --space is again dead no motion of page
10) Click once then tab once                -- space works multiple times

Sorry, i can't reproduce the first case (without frames) in my build..
(2002041723 and 20020415xx)

I'm only able to reproduce this on a page with frames, for example: weired.com..

another idea: what windowmanager you are using?

I removed the file prefs.js and the problem went away...
conclusion: profile corruption in the last few days.
Now works for me.

mass-verification of Invalid bugs.

if you don't think the report is invalid, please check to see if it has already
been reported (it might be a duplicate instead). otherwise, make sure that there
are steps (a valid test case) that clearly display the issue as an unexpected
defect.
