Details

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.9+) Gecko/20020417

To reproduce:

1) Go to ftp://ftp.complex.is/pub/fp-def.asc
2) "save as"
of
1) Go to ftp://ftp.complex.is/pub/
2) "save link target as" on fp-def.asc

Observe: The save dialog offers fp-def.asc.txt as a name.
Expected: Save the actual file name.

There might (I doubt it though) to save a file with another extension, but
definately, FTP is about transfering data as is.

There's a bug about this somewhere ... don't have time to find it right now.

It's about not changing extensions on Linux.

I can't stand this myself. If I want to download a file, I want to download the
file with the name as it is. I don't want Mozilla to change it on me. If the
Save As dialogue box wants to list other files of the same "type" (not
extension) that's fine - but don't change the extension of the existing file to
be downloaded...
no point in arguing in this bug. this bug will eventuall be dupped when i find
the real one

Thanks.

I'm not sure if this really is a dupe of 120327. That bug only talks about
text/plain document types. This bug, I believe, means to address *ALL* file
extensions and document types...
