[Affected versions]:
- latest Nightly 56.0a1
- Beta 55.0b10 (20170717063821)
- 54.0.1 (20170628075643)

[Affected platforms]:
- Windows 10 x64
- Mac OS X 10.11.6
- Ubuntu 16.04 x64 LTS

[Steps to reproduce]:
1. Start Firefox.
2. Go to: https://play.google.com/store
3. Click the magnifying glass from the Search Bar.
4. Add "Google Play" to the search engine list.

[Expected result]:
- The "Google play" search engine is properly installed or if is not compatible with Firefox a warning message is displayed informing the user about this.

[Actual result]:
- The following error is displayed: "Firefox could not download the search plugin from:https://play.google.com/opensearch.xml?hl=ro"

[Regression range]:
- I can reproduce this on Firefox 10 so it's not a regression.

[Additional notes]:
- see the attached screencast
https://play.google.com/opensearch.xml is 404, so this is an error with Google Play's website not with Firefox. Best we can do is to notify Google.

Karl, can you get in touch with Google about this (when you're back from PTO...). I imagine not an important issue for them, but good to let them know.

This issue is still reproducible on Windows 10 and Nightly 61.

See bug 1547409. Moving webcompat whiteboard tags to keywords.

https://play.google.com/opensearch.xml exists and the functionality works as expected.

Works for me is the generally the better resolution when something has fixed itself.
