User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:54.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/54.0 Build ID: 20170628075643 Steps to reproduce: enter "o2.box" in adress bar if you have an o2 homebox (2) router. Actual results: "Server not found" Expected results: the same should appear what appears when I enter "192.168.2.1" or so (default IP adress). This worked fine in last year's Firefox release, not working anymore since a few builds already.

If possible, could you try to capture the HTTP log when you enter "o2.box" in URL bar? https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Debugging/HTTP_logging Thanks.

Ahaaaa issue is caused by using either Google DNS in IPv4 (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) or because of IPv6... (working when not using Google DNS) Can it be fixed in Firefox?

We can discuss more details there. :)

I would call it a bug. Why won't you? Isn't that URL supposed to work, no matter which DNS I use?

(In reply to Daniel from comment #5) > I would call it a bug. Why won't you? Isn't that URL supposed to work, no > matter which DNS I use? No. Because o2.box is not a public domain, which means google's DNS server will never resolve o2.box to "192.168.2.1".
