User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.0rc1)
Gecko/20020417
BuildID: 2002041711
Complete un-install of previous versions (even user dirs, etc), and fresh
install of the build from the RC1 link on main page of www.mozilla.org. Opened a
browser, and right-clicked to pull up a menu. ~ characters appeared in
background of scrollbar (see image attachment 1 [details] [diff] [review]), and this behavior follows from
site to site, and occurs in newly spawned windows (see image attachment 2 [details] [diff] [review])
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Mozilla RC1
2. Right click to pull up 'View Page info' option (or others)
3.Watch tilde characters appear in BG of scroll bar
Actual Results: ~ appeared as shown in attachments
Expected Results: Wow, just about anything but that *grin*
I haven't rebooted after doing the install; I wanted to get these images into
the system before I did. I'll reboot, and update the bug ticket with any extra
info (like if the issue disappears!). However, even after closing all Mozilla
instances, including the quickstarter, it has still occurred each time so far.

Okay, I rebooted, and now can't recreate the issue. That has to be the strangest
thing I've ever seen. I guess you can chalk it up to Windows Flakiness tho :-)
Unless you get any other reports of the same behavior, that is!

Resolving WFM based on comments. Re-open if you get it again.
btw, excellent bug report.

Whoops, sorry Sean :)
I wonder, do you get the problem with Modern skin too ? Actually it's
rather fetching !

Okay, reloaded w/ Modern theme, will watch for the same issue; loading all the
same sites in tabs as always. Will try to monitor exactly what I click so I know
exactly what I did right before it happens. This can be a bit hard of course,
since you don't THINK about browsing until something happens *grin*

Okay, ran it for several hours w/ Modern theme, and can't recreate it. I'll
switch back to classic again, and see how long it takes to become an issue.
Anyone else seen anything like this in the bug reports? (Hard one to search for
if people don't call it a tilde, you know? :-)

As SOON as I closed (and also closed quickstarter) after changing the theme to
classic, I got the error again. No clicks at ALL. Just launched it, and whoomp,
there it is (as the song said). See take3 images. Seems to be on the classic theme.

Eh ? Matti, he's still seeing the problem clearly. Why did
you WFM based on me previously WFMing ??
Sean, you could try looking in the off by one tracking bug
for something similar perhaps.

Summary: Scrollbar background fills w/ tilde (~) characters → Scrollbar background fills w/ tilde (~) characters (classic only ?)

For me, this happens with the classic theme only. The modern theme has not yet
exhibited this problem.
The pattern changes as i move the scroll bar.
Tested with Win2k sp2, mozilla rc1.

Updated to 2002042403 to see if it still does it, and I haven't seen the issue
yet on this nightly build. I'll try beating the heck out of it to see if I can
recreate it on this build (I'm using classic theme, since that seemed to be the
deciding factor last week). Watch for updates *grin*

Everybody, please try to reproduce with Classic for current trunk and/or
1.0 branch builds. Thanks.

Yep, it's doing it still with that build as well; I completely uninstalled, and
removed every instance of the word mozilla or chrome from the machine prior to
installing it again. It only happens w/ the classic theme. Grab the scrollbar
and run it up and down VERY fast a few times, and it seems to be the aggravating
cause. I'm not sure if it's relating to grabbing the scrollbar suddenly right as
another tabbed window is reloading or loading new. I'm now trying to see if it
happens without tabs (I think I browse w/ tabbed windows even when I have just
the one tab; can someone look at my previous images to check; especially the one
where I had JUST started mozilla and it happened?) on this build. I have another
image from it happening on this build, but don't have it where I can upload it
right now. Will try Sunday to remember to UL the image.

Almost the same thing happens to me on win2k using both 1.1beta and 1.1alpha
with the modern theme. The background of the scrollbar gets filled with black
lines while scrolling. 1.0 works ok.

The picture shows the scrollbar problem with another theme.
Same happens with modern while classic has tilde characters.

Wow, as far as I'm concerned this BUG is dead. I haven't seen the behavior in
