==================================================================================
The new design of the MDN is really harsh on the eyes and distracts readers from the actual content on the site. I find the headings to be too large and distracting. My eye keeps going back to the heading while trying to read the reference material. I actually had to go into DevTools and change the font size and color of the headings to create a less distracting experience. I also find the black boxed subheadings problematic as they are also very distracting and your eyes go right to them when you're trying to read the surrounding text.
There's also an issue with the media queries. I am currently using a 13in MacBook with a 1280 x 800 screen resolution. At this resolution paragraphs have an average line length of 120 characters/line-- far too long for comfortable reading. On my iMac (with a greater screen resolution) the line length is only about 85 characters long and it a much more comfortable experience.
Overall, I think the old design was much more effective in that it supplied developers with the material they needed in an easy-to-read, straight to the point format. The new site feels over designed and appears to focus more on supporting the new logo redesign rather than creating a positive user experience for developers who rely on the site.
I hope an option is added soon that allows developers to opt out of the new design and return to the original design of the site.
What problems would this solve?
===============================
By rethinking the current design, developers who rely on the site will have a much more enjoyable experience.
Who would use this?
===================
I'm sure most of the site's visitors would appreciate these changes.
What would users see?
=====================
A site that puts user experience before design.
What would users do? What would happen as a result?
===================================================
A better user experience
Is there anything else we should know?
