Mozilla randomly hangs my systerm (W95b, Pentium, 64MB, lots of free disk) but I'm unable to reproduce the problem. The entire system freezes and I have to reboot (CTRL-ALT-DEL several times) to finally get back. It happens frequently (three times in three days). I can't say when it started to happen. Release 0.9.9 worked fine. I first noticed it in nightly build 2002041617. However it may have been a problem sooner since I was not able to test any of the nightly builds because of another problem. It is still a problem in RC1. Obviosly I don't expect anyone to worry about this if I'm the only one who has this problem and I can't even reproduce it. However I'm hoping their might be other people with the same problem who can provide additoinal information or at least add enough weight to the problem to have a developer investigate.
Did you try the standard workarounds: create an new profile or uninstall Mozilla (delete its program directory before installing again)?
Reporter: Have you try some thinks from comment #1 ?? And have you the same problems yet? The problem with the installer builds on win95 is resolved, can you try a new nightly build?
I am almost convinced that this is related to Mozilla leaking large amounts of memory or perhaps just allocating too much memory (not the same necessarily). This has since happened several times since I first reported it. But one time Mozilla crashed without hanging the whole system. I was able to quickly switch to windows explorer and noticed there was zero free memory. Once the system had cleaned up after the crash my free memory went back to normal again (over 100MB). Could be either be the swap file size (probable) or allocation of some other temporary files that mozilla is using (unlikely). Not sure if this is the same bug that has been crashing my entire system but it did exhibit the common symptom of the system becoming unresponsive before bombing. There are a number of new bugs open that are reporting large memory leaks or problems with excessive memory allocation from recent builds. I am in the process of trying to find examples that will reproduce the crash. Again I don't have much time to spend on this but I will do what I can.
-> wfm Please reopen if you can provide steps to reproduce this
