Sometime before Wed Apr 17 21:24:00 CDT 2002 a regression was introduced on the
branch which is occasionally causing comments in html to be rendered in the
resulting page. It appears that the page is being downloaded correctly, as view
source shows it correctly, however the rendered page occasionally includes
commented out html. I'll attach a screen shot that shows view source on the left
correctly recognizing the comments and mozilla on the right clearly rendering
several paragraphs of the commented out html. Note that it is NOT rendering the
first phrase of the comment ("more crud from various sources...") but rather it
starts with the first <p> tag. (that's why I suspect the parser as opposed to
layout, but I'm not 100% confident in that.) Also note that it rendered the
clossing --> literally.

Interestingly it does not incorrectly render all the time, to generate the
screen shot after pulling and rebuilding just now I had to shift-reload twice,
of ten shift-reloads plus the original load, four rendered correctly, seven
incorrectly include commented out content.

This screen shot was taken from a clobber build of the trunk, pull finished at

Probably dup of bug 137628
