When using WebRTC video on my Google Pixel phone, the camera does not autofocus on objects that are closer than ~ 18 inches. Focus is great for objects that are farther away.

In contrast, Google Chrome on the same phone focuses text in a book perfectly when the camera is held ~ 6" away.

The FxA team is running into this problem because we want to scan QR codes to pair multiple devices. We are attempting to do this using a web based QR code scanner, but may need to try alternative methods.

A demo site that scans QR codes: https://schmich.github.io/instascan/
