I just updated to the 2017-08-11 Nightly. There's a ton of space on either side of the location and search bars -- at full width on my 15" laptop there's enough room for five navigation bar icons on each side. This space sticks around, only shrinking slightly (down to about three icons' worth on each side), when I resize the window down, to the point that most of the URL is invisible in favor of space. See attached screenshot.
