Details
in the case where a child browser is being open (clicking on link in parent), it is opening before 1) DNS server actually returns an ip# 2) given an ip#, before a connection to the server has actually been made. the result being, that in the failure of either case, you have a blank browser sitting open on your desktop.
Prefilling url was fixed for new windows in bug 63334 ad WFM on XP. There is still an issue with prefilling urlbar in tabs however - but 103720. Reporter: Do you mean new windows or new tabs? (or both) In case you see this happening when opening new windows, please include exact steps to reproduce.

Target Milestone: mozilla1.0 → ---
As far as i can see, this WFM on Linux as well, 2002042021: URL is prefilled in urlbar *in a new window* before pageload starts. So this may be a duplicate of bug 103720
