139041 - Mozilla 1.0 rc1 won't connect

I installed 1.0 rc1 over 9.9.  After I did that Mozilla would tell me that the 
connection is refused regardless of what site I tried.  Ditto mail. I 
reinstalled 9.9 over 1.0 and was then able to connect.  Reinstalled rc1 again, 
same problem.  Uninstalled both and reinstalled 1.0, ditto.  Did all this both 
with and without my Sygate Personal Firewall active. No luck. I thought it might 
be my Lynksys Router firewall so I turned that off -- no joy.  I had to do that 
through Netscape 4.7 which uses a built in HTTP page for settings. RC1 would not 
even access the local LinkSys router page.

Are you sure that you are not in the "Offline" mode ?
(File/Work Online)

Have you tried this with a fresh install (i.e. not just copying one version over
another, but completely removing the old one first), and with a fresh profile?
Profiles have changed repeatedly over time and things left from older
profiles/installations can often break things...
