The addon builds have been deprecated by developer edition builds https://treeherder.mozilla.org/#/jobs?repo=mozilla-beta&filter-searchStr=devEdition https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1372241#c2 The bug to deprecate addon builds is bug 1391283. I 'll also open a bug/ping a person to update the documentation.

So there's no more way to get a release version of firefox that allows unsigned extensions?
We also have devedition builds available on the mozilla-release.

That earlier comment is incorrect. We still have unbranded addon builds on release. See https://wiki.mozilla.org/Add-ons/Extension_Signing#Unbranded_Builds and bug 1393071
