Although I think the idea of different branding for events sort of like Google does might be a cool thing to do. I do NOT think it should ever be correct for a Nightly build to show the release version branding like the 2017/08/16 builds do.
Summary: Nightly builds showing release branding. This can;t be correct. → Nightly builds showing release branding. This can't be correct.
It's not the same, unless you're somewhere far far away, err, I mean, a few years ago. I'm sorry you don't appreciate the joke. X-ref: bug 1389946 bug 1389943 bug 1389770 bug 1389901

Sorry, but the image shown on the about: page under linux for nightly looks identical to the image shown on an official firefox build.
(In reply to Bill Gianopoulos [:WG9s] from comment #2) > Sorry, but the image shown on the about: page under linux for nightly looks > identical to the image shown on an official firefox build. What's "the about: page" ? http://imgur.com/a/wNNB3 is what about:home shows for me, and that looks similar but is not identical to the current release logo.
Even if this is just very close to the current release branding but differs slightly you are certainly risking losing the trademark on the official banding by diluting it on your own. please talk to your legal branding people THIS IS A REAL ISSUE>
The image that I get when I go to help -> about is close enough that were we to see someone else using it we could calm trademark infringement, so the fact that we use it ourselves dilutes are defense in trying to defend the trademark. Please talk to your trademark lawyers you are in danger of losing the trademark on the fFrefox logo here.
These updates are very confusing. Each time I'm on the verge of filing a bug for a regression. I apprecate the need for some variety, but could we consider the cost for future changes like this?
But the issue I was trying to raise here is those to close to the official branded trademark issue should NOT be being used without consuting with the Mozilla trademark lawyers firs.t This could cause real issues.
