This is easy to do, but depends on Spark allowing us to create the wide dataset. This may be fixed on the databricks platform, in which case we can add all histograms.

Frank, this is now unblocked using the latest Spark version, right? Is the resulting wide dataset backwards-compatible for reading with earlier versions of Spark?

Given this is a code generation error, I would assume that previous versions are not backwards compatible; it may be possible if we select a subset of columns immediately though.
