Steps to reproduce:

e.g. to encrypt files before dropping to a cloud storage, it would be great to encrypt them with thunderbird and when restoring just double-click on the .eml

If this doesn't move and you still would like to smime encrypt without sending at the same time.
Or if the resulting message is way too big for your mail server (e.g. 1.7 GB)
