20020424 branch build on MacOS 9.2 This is a regression from earlier builds. Marking nsbeta1 since LDAP replication is blocked.

This works with Mozilla trunk build 20020429 on Mac OS 9.2. Yulian, can u please try it again, maybe this was related to bug # 138344 related to the server adding spaces to the changelog.

20020502 branch build on Wins and Mac. Truns out the problem is caused by DS server properties settings. In my case, victory.mcom.com is not working, so Login dlg doesn't show up. After changing to valid Hostname as victory, the problem is gone. Reopen the bug but removing nsbeta1+ and regression keywords since replication is not blocked any more if valid Hostname is provided.

The solution to this problem is to display an appropriate error message to the user so that if he/she does not see the auth dialog its not a surprise.

patch with all related code changes to catch the error and display appropriate message if the user is offline when doing AB LDAP replication Jennifer could you please review the below string : +unknownHostError=The Hostname specified for the LDAP directory is unknown
Is the Hostname entered not valid or just not reachable at this time? Name of dialog should be the product name, for example, "Netscape" or "Mozilla" as appropriate. "The LDAP directory cannot be reached because the hostname specified is not valid. Verify that you entered the correct hostname in the Directory Server Properties dialog and then try again."

Comment on attachment 84317 [details] [diff] [review] patch to fix this Patch has bitrotted, mailnews/addrbook/prefs/resources/locale/en-US/replicationProgress.properties no longer exists and the hunks in nsAbLDAPReplicationData.cpp also fail to patch successfully.
