This is still occuring on the firefox-wayland-57.1-1 tag. To reproduce:

* Compile with the attached .mozconfig
* Start with GDK_BACKEND="wayland" ./objdir/dist/bin/firefox --private-window
* Go to https://lwn.net/
* Highlight and copy a word from the page.
* Paste into the username field.

This locks up Firefox. The last log messages are:
