The general consensus between myself and Dao when implementing the sidebar style changes was to not stray too far away from the native search bar styling, particularly to preserve things like the clear button and such.
Additionally, :shorlander said in today's triage meeting that he thinks they look fine as they are at the moment, so we decided to WONTFIX
