Steps to reproduce:

1. Enter Comment
2. Notice spelling errors, that you did not provide anything meaningful, etc.

Actual results:

There is no way to delete the comment (or edit it for that matter, see Bug 540)

Expected results:

You should be able to delete your own comments

I was aware that bug 282657 was similar. That bug seems to have gone in the direction of allowing admins (or some other privilege group) to delete any comment. This bug is specifically about allowing all users to delete only their owncomments.

The intention of this bug is to add a button on bugzilla.mozilla.com in the top-left corner of your own comments that says delete. When you click it, it will delete the comment. I am open to other solutions, but that is the direction this is going in.
This feature would have to be implemented in a manner such that a user could not make an abusive comment, triggering a notification to one or more users, then deleting it.
Component: General → Bug Creation/Editing
One of the simple reasons to allow comment deletion is/will be fixed by another improvement: Bug 540 is almost resolved. This will allow errors in an otherwise useful comment to be corrected. However, there are still comments that one realizes are not helpful or had been rooted in a misunderstanding (e.g. my own, Bug 540 Comment 208, which has been edited, but I would probably just delete if I could). These are the cases where a user would be able to clean up the bug report by just deleting their comment. At the same time, I realize that someone would attempt to abuse this feature, and I do not yet have any ideas to fix this.
There are ways we could this. One would be if a comment is marked for review via tagging, it can't be deleted except by an admin.

For now, I want to get the comment editing stable and landed and return to this.

Thanks!

I can understand why you don't want comments to be edited but you could allow it within 10 minutes or so.
It's would be a nice way to correct typos or like I just did, mess up the markdown.

Editing actually landed already, but you need editbugs permission. Once you've contributed to two bugs, request it here

Editing comments satisfies this use-case.

I've made several comments on Bugzilla which I then noticed contained spelling or other mistakes.

I wanted to edit the comments but could not.

I had to search to find this thread, and understand you need to be a member of EDITBUGS group.

However all users should be able to edit their own comments without requesting membership; it would improve the quality of the writing on the site (as my still-unedited mistakes will attest).

Virtually every discussion forum online has this feature.

If you are worried about abuse (which personally I would not be) then a simple "comment history" feature (like Github) would provide proof of edit history.

You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
