1396378 - attempt to create new folder called Trash under Local Folders account in localised version gives error "...already exists"

Steps to reproduce:

atttempted to create new subfolder folder called trash under local folders


Actual results:

 got error "a folder with that name already exists" even though I can see no folder with that name
I wonder if the "special" TB folder displaying "Deleted" is actually named trash when comparing for new folder creation and this is causing the issue.
It's not a showstopper I just wanted an interim trash holder to move stuff out of my imap accounts until I decide to properly delete mails
I have named the folder "my trash" instead - just thought it was confusing

I'm a little confused here. Usually Hotmail shows a "Deleted" folder instead of a "Trash" folder and I'm not sure whether TB will let you create an IMAP folder with the reserved name "Trash". However, you seem to want to create a *local* folder "Trash" and indeed that already exists.

First, and just to clarify, this is not an imap folder
as you have figured it is under local folders
My issue (and I admit it is a minor one) is that the error reported does not correspond to the list of visible folders under local folders (see attached image)

Are you using an en-GB version of TB where Trash is localised to "Deleted"? Have you looked in the file system or under folder properties what the "real" file name of this folder is? I think you'll find it's called "Trash".

yes I almost 100% certain I am using en-GB TB
I have checked and indeed there is a folder called Trash
this wasn't really my issue - just that it seems like there isn't a folder called Trash until you try to create one
seems to me like a bit of an obsfucation to have folder names as unique ids then if the localisation changes the displayed name it causes this issue?
in any case I think most people will understand what Trash means, even this side of the pond!
it obviously doesn't matter that much so I'll leave it at that because I'm sure either creating ids rather than using folder names would not be worth it

perhaps a better way to look at it would be to update the error message to include any links to localisation so e.g. if I am using en-GB it will say the folder "Deleted" is already using the name/id Trash ?

anyway as I say it a really really minor one - I just though it would be helpful if anyone else thinks its an issue and looks up in bugzilla?

You're correct, that is somewhat confusing, so we can leave the bug open, but I don't think we'll dedicate time to it in the foreseeable future.
