Hi, We are expanding our SMS program to make it easier for Firefox desktop users to download Firefox mobile. Its currently available in the US, but we are expanding this capability to more countries. Deadline: 9/8 for DE, 9/15 for all other locales Locales: de, es-ES, fr, id, pl, pt-BR, es-mx User Journey: There are a lot of ways that we are promoting Firefox mobile to our desktop users. In all instances, users will be taken to a page like the one here where they can currently enter their email address to receive an email to download firefox on their mobile device. We are now adding SMS capability so users can input either their email or phone number. If a user enters their phone number, they will receive a text message to download our app. The SMS message that the user receieves needs to be localized. Here's the message: %Firefox for Mobile is here! Tap the link to install.% --> (link will be provided.)

The message needs to be localized. Well, in that case I guess the translation is: %Firefox für Mobilgeräte ist da! Tippen Sie zur Installation auf den Link.%

Why are you filing a but for 7 languages in the German component? I think we had plenty of discussion about this in the past. Leaving NI for Peiying to figure out how to manage localization for this.

Mike, I wish you gave us a heads-up, I know you were working on it. Even though the request is small, there are gazillians of requests at this moment for these languages. I will get what you need by deadlines.

Is there another process?

@mhan, here is the final for German: %Firefox für Dein Mobilgerät ist da: Jetzt auf Link klicken und installieren.%

Now that we’ve been overruled, I’d just like to ask who wrote this translation (which looks fine by the way, but uses informal address). I’m also wondering if „click“ is the proper term in the mobile context, where tapping probably is the method of interaction.

Hello Angela, Benny, Brenna, Cynthia, Piotr, Theo, Check the original bug request for context, and provide translation for this string. Indicate the locale and post the *final* translation in your comment. Deadline is Sept 15. %Firefox for Mobile is here! Tap the link to install.%. Thank you! Peiying

Hi, This would be the translation for ES: ¡Firefox para móviles ya está aquí! Haz clic en el enlace para instalarlo. Cheers, Angela.

I thought it was made clear that the tune should be informal. If you disagree with the final work, do you mind discussing this directly with Stephan? > > I’m also wondering if „click“ is the proper term in the mobile context, > where tapping probably is the method of interaction. @mhan, could you comment?

@Coce, you are correct on the action when using a phone: tapping. Let me check with Stephan.

Hi, I agree that we should keep consistent with "tap" instead of "click" since this is on mobile. Using informal address is fine with me.

Will this message be shown to the users based on the browser locale or their geo IP? Austrian and Swiss users with a Firefox in German (or e.g. French) might be lured and get disappointed if this is unavailable for them.

Hi Mike, can you please provide the mzl.la download links for each locale? We'll need Germany first, followed by the others. Thanks!

Brynne, We can use the same download links as with our existing campaigns in US since the links detect the devices locale. In adjust, we will filter by country for analysis.

Sounds good! I set German up to use the link currently in place for the EN Whats New SMS message (https://mzl.la/2fBJyqa), and will continue to use this same link as we roll out the other locales.

Great. Lets make sure for the future we should be using the same links accross channel (wnp, vs snippet vs email) instead of locale. For this DE test, using the WNP is appropriate because thats where we will roll out SMS in DE first.
