Details

2002-04-22-06 1.0 branch build 1. enter "a,b"<ab@foo.com> into the addressing pane of the mail compose window. 2. click on the "Address" to open the "Select Addresses" window. 3. you will see two entries in the right pane: '"a' and 'b<ab@foo.com>'.
This is an address book issue. Looks like the current code just split the recipient list looking just for a comma instead of using the mime header parser to do the correct job.

This bug is really bugging me. All the addresses in our corporate directory are of the format "a, b", so the "Select Addresses" window is almost unusable. I'm seeing this in Mozilla 1.3 on Linux (RH 8).
Bug still present as of v1.6
This is another bug that is annoying me. But the problem occurs even when there is no comma in the name. An address of the form "First Last" <yourname@domain.com> copied from the Address Book into the address line message being composed doesn't immediately get split, but if I close the address book, then re-open it again and examine the addresses, I find the addresses for which the name is in quotes to be split with '"First' on one line and 'Last" <yourname@domain.com> on the following line. Of course, an error is returned for both lines and the message does go to that recipient. The problem does not always occur. It is intermittent, but very common. One can fix the abberrant behavior by manually correcting each address by cutting and pasting from one line to the one above it, but when there are hundreds of recipients this can be very tedious.
