The attached message (from the mozilla.dev.security.policy newsgroup) displays with a blank body.
Previously, this problem has been caused by Enigmail, but disabling Enigmail did not cause the message to display correctly.
Thunderbird 52.3.0 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

Hi Gerv, I'm not sure what you're doing. In TB 52 and TB 57 Daily I see:

Thanks Gerv - we're working on a patch today for it. We'll also revoke the
cert today.

The message appear to be signed, but the signature isn't recognised as valid.
The message you supplied looks terribly wrong, following the signature, the message repeats, looks like you glued the same message to itself. Look at the attachment and you'll see:

I'll attach the "repaired" message where I've removed the repeated bits, that shows with an invalid signature.
Sorry, nothing I can do here.

This is the repaired message, but it complains that the message has been manipulated, which I certainly have done.
Maybe try repairing the folder that holds this message.

Is it possible to repair a News folder? I'm worried it'll try downloading all the messages again, which will take an absolute age as it seems to do them at about 1 message per second...

I've just repaired one and it offered to download the messages or headers again. So I went from 15.000 to 500 messages :-(
Sorry, not a news specialist at all. Feel free to NI others.

They all left the building. What is the exact question? Yes, repair folder downloads again.
I'd try Alfred, but I guess he needs a defined question/target, etc. He won't be able to tell you why the message displays for me and not for you.

Yes, if you repair a News Folder, you'll lose all the already downloaded articles.
If you don't need them all, activate:
Account Settings -> "news.mozilla.org" -> Server Settings
=> [x] Ask me before downloading more than [ n] messages

Yes, news.mozilla.org seems to be quite sluggish at the moment.
I got all headers in ~20 seconds. But only 4 message bodies per second.
The download is probably limited.
