From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; Q312461)
BuildID:

Same probelm as in all 6.x builds... Email client will not auto-check when
browser opens, nor does it auto-check every "x" minutes. Both settings are
coorect in Email Preferences (I have it set to check every 5 minutes). The only
way to see if I have new mail is to open the mail client window...it will then
check. Also, I have it set to download email, but it will not do that until I
click on the new message window.

This bug occurs on ALL of my systems (Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows XP) -
desktops & laptops.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set Preferences properly (check for new mail on open, check for new mail
every "x" minutes.
2. Send self an email
3. Close and reopen browser, then wait forever

Actual Results: Nada

Expected Results: Auto-Check for email

I am a long time Netscape user (currently use 4.9, but was a beta tester for
years early on) and am familiar with how things should work. This error was
present in every release of Netscape 6.x and it continues in the Mozilla pre-
release version 1.0. It occurs on every one of my systems with Windows OS (XP,
98SE).
I believe there is already a bug on this
Summary: Mail Client does not auto-check for new mail → Mail Client does not auto-check for new mail (if mail isn't open)
