From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS sun4u; en-US; rv:1.0rc1) Gecko/20020422 BuildID: 2002042213 When the NumLock key is activated, it is impossible de type in URL in the URL bar. It works ok when the NumLock key is not active. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Press the NumLock key 2.Try to type an URL in the URL bar : nothing happens Actual Results: Nothing happened in the URL bar. The cursor is visible but it doesn't move. Expected Results: It should have printed the characters I'm typing.
I can't reproduce it on a home compiled Mozilla 0.9.9, neither on Linux nor on Solaris using the same compile flags as the one I used to compile my mozilla 1.0RC1 source code. So it seems to be a regression in 1.0RC1.
Typing in the url bar works for me with numlock on with nightly build 2002042522 on Sparc Solaris 7. This could be a localization issue. What type of keyboard do you use and under with what locale? Also, what window manager do you use? Could you try a newer nightly build and see if the problem is still there?
I can confirm it DOESN'T work with my new build with 1.0RC2 source code. The configuration is a little bit complicated : - I use an NCD X terminal with a French AZERTY keyboard. - The X session is opened on a Linux/sparc station with Window Maker 0.61.1. - I'm connected through SSH to the Solaris 7 machine where I run mozilla 1.0RC2. Here are my locales on the Solaris machine : $ locale LANG= LC_CTYPE="C" LC_NUMERIC="C" LC_TIME="C" LC_COLLATE="C" LC_MONETARY="C" LC_MESSAGES="C" LC_ALL= And my locales on the Linux/sparc station : $ locale LANG=french LC_CTYPE="french" LC_NUMERIC="french" LC_TIME="french" LC_COLLATE="french" LC_MONETARY="french" LC_MESSAGES="french" LC_ALL=

I can confirm that it doesn't work either. We also run NCD X terminals. However this is not a problem from the console...only on the remote windows.
I am also having this problem using an NCD 450 with Mozilla build ID 2002061108 (alpha 1.1) running on a remote server. With Numlock active text entry is not possible in any text entry box, including the URL bar, text fields in forms, and preference dialogs.

(In reply to comment #8) > *** Bug 234173 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I think this is also the same as bug 160695, and it applies to the Linux version of Mozilla too (e.g. Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8a) Gecko/20040426). The important thing is what X server you are displaying on, not which platform the browszer is running on. To reproduce the bug type xmodmap -e 'add mod4 = Num_Lock' then hit the numlock key.

MASS-CHANGE: This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but has been without a comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project. This means that it was logged against the old Mozilla suite and we cannot determine that it's still valid for the current SeaMonkey suite. Because of this, we are setting it to an UNCONFIRMED state. If you can confirm that this report still applies to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it back to the NEW state along with a comment on how you reproduced it on what Build ID, or if it's an enhancement request, why it's still worth implementing and in what way. If you can confirm that the report doesn't apply to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it to the appropriate RESOLVED state (WORKSFORME, INVALID, WONTFIX, or similar). If no action happens within the next few months, we move this bug report to an EXPIRED state. Query tag for this change: mass-UNCONFIRM-20090614

I don't know about the Solaris version but it is definitely still present in the current Linux version of Firefox (3.0.11): Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.11) Gecko/2009060214 Firefox/3.0.11 See comment #9 for a very easy test to see if it is present in any given product. I think it highly likely the bug is the same as bug 160695, so you should probably close one of them as a duplicate. The good news is that the bug no longer causes a problem on this site (as far as I know) because we no longer use NCD X terminals. Bob

The bug is still present on current Firefox. Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-GB; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 Firefox/3.6.12
I don't see this myself (if I activate NumLock in my Kubuntu 10.10 VM I can still type in my SM 2.1 trunk nightly), but since Bob suggested this himself in comment 11, I'm duping this to bug 160695 (which is at least a Core bug; the chance of resolving it in SM land seems quite low).
