Steps to reproduce:

1) Update your Firefox Nightly 57.0a1
2)Type about:home in search bar or simply click on home icon.
3)Now try with about:newtab.


Actual results:

Updated version display the page as in about:new tab. If it is expected to be changed in the current build, then nightly users need to get those customize, restore tab, sync options automatically every time when they launch nightly. Even I use restore tabs instantly to get continue with previous work. 

  Second thing to be noted is about:home display about:newtab tab page with search focused. In about:newtab, search is not focused. Need to be considered this issue.


Expected results:

about:home should display home page with nightly icon focused center. At the bottom customize, restore tab, etc option should be there.

I'm reasonably certain this is intentional.

Hey ursula, do you know if we plan on exposing some kind of "Restore Last Session" button in the about:home replacement for users that don't restore their session automatically?

Yes, this is intentional.
As far as the "Restore Last Session" issue, this is also by design since bug 1393343 has that option in the menu. The launcher options will no longer be displayed on about:home/about:newtab pages.

There are open issues tracking the search autofocus issue in about:home. See bug 1382891.
