We ship a bunch of png assets from appcompat that could be shrunk with tools like zopflipng or pngcrush. e.g.

https://gist.github.com/catlee/e227e17d2958ca1c7ffdb1f5001e3f3c has a full list of png files in a recent android build, along with a delta of size difference when run through zopflipng.
