RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 416233

Details

The main page under edit->preferences->privacy&security serves no purpose. All
other main pages have the most common operations available on the initial page.
Put the password page there, or SSL page, or something...open to ideas.

Ideally, we would like to minimize user drill down and click-through numbers to
make the ability to use the product as easy and intuitive as possible.
We can fill the page when we have good ideas what to place into it.

At the moment, we don't have to have a setting that is general enough to be more
important than all other security settings, and small enough, so that all its
properties fit into the top level page completely.
Severity: normal → enhancement
Priority: -- → P5
Summary: Privacy&Security Preference page wastes real estate → Empty top level Privacy&Security Preference page
Target Milestone: --- → Future
Mass reassign ssaux bugs to nobody
Assignee: ssaux → nobody
Mass change "Future" target milestone to "--" on bugs that now are assigned to
nobody. Those targets reflected the prioritization of past PSM management.
Many of these should be marked invalid or wontfix, I think.
Target Milestone: Future → ---

Currently, there are only two sentences on the top. There's much room below for
more text. Thus, I'd like to see an overview of the current *privacy* settings.
Example:

*Cookies:* website only, session only [Change] [Manage]
*Images:* accept all, not in MailNews [Change] [Manage]
*Popup windows:* Block [Change] [Manage]
*Passwords:* remebered [Change] [Manage]

where [Change] is a button which switches to the subcategory, accordingly, and
[Manage] a button to manage the sites / data.

IMO, security is not so important for the overview here, as is the Master
Password subcategory and so on.
Product: PSM → Core
QA Contact: junruh → ui
The new sanitize feature uses this pane now (see Suite bug 416233 comment 0) so it is no longer empty -> duplicate.
