Details

** Observed with 2002-04-25 MacOS X 1.0 branch build ** On my G4 Mac, if I try to download IMAP server headers for about 6000 msgs. I can get that done in less than 30 seconds on a Windows build. I tried the same thing with the recent MacOS X build and it took around 20 minutes to download the same number of headers. I don't know what is causing this but this is way too slow and makes the OS X client unusable for Mail. Is this something that is being worked on? Maybe there is a workaround?
By the way I have seen this behavior before on Mac OS X builds and so this is nothing new to me.
Seeing this also on Solaris with POP3, many collisions on slower network, maybe too much interaction (because of a bug) with the server ?

With POP3 I understand a bit of sloweness because you need to download the messages themselves. But for IMAP, we download only message headers. That should be much much faster.
Looks like a dupe of bug 102797
