until you click on the folder and a 'select' is done.. From the rfc for IMAP .. if a folder returned 'Marked' as the result of a LIST then it probably indicates that it has new messages (which is the result of server side filtering having occurred .. or another imap client than this one having mode new messages into it) .. For all folders which indicate they are marked mailnews should run a 'SELECT' to update the number of unread of emails.. This is preventing us from using mozilla as our mail client because we heavily rely on server based filtering and the ability for users to use multiple clients to access their mail (web/desktop/home pc/etc)..
