140632 - Mozilla will not list newsgroups in Subscribe window

Version 1.0rc1.
When attempting to subscribe to newsgroups on nntp://basic.bs.webusenet.com the
subscribe window stops searching almost immediately and returns no available
groups. Netscape 4 works properly; there are no passwords or other controls. 

The NNTP server returns: 
200 Welcome to the Bellsouth.Net News Hub#1! (Twister v2.0.0)

The protocol trace is turned on per your instructions but returns a zero-length
file. A sniffer shows that the news server is returning a list of groups but
Mozilla doesn't seem to recognize it.

The only thing that stands out is that after we send MODE READER and then do a
LIST, after returning a few newsgroups we do:

Why are we sending quit?  Client? Server?  What is the way to tell?

OK, this is bizarre. I changed my primary mail account (IMAP) to use SSL and now
the newsreader is working properly (I also changed the name of my primary mail
account from the host name to the FQDN).

Go figure.
