Details
58.0a1 (2017-10-07) (64-bit)
Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6
STR:
1. Open Firefox with two tabs
2. Drag one tab off the strip to create two windows
3. Long cmd+click on the Mac fullscreen button (the little green circle)
4. Watch split-window mode initiate
5. Select the other Firefox window as the other split window
6. Click the green fullscreen button again
Expected: Firefox windows are still both visible in Firefox
Actual: Only *one* of the windows is visible! The other one still shows up in the Window menu, but nothing happens when you select it.
No errors in the browser console.

Repro'd on 56, so not a recent regression. Maybe always there since the OS started supporting the feature in El Capitan?

Thanks for filing! Could you run mozregression[1] to make sure?

Nope, I can never get it to work. Hopefully someone else who's got it set up can do it.

I was going to try to reproduce, but I can't get it to go into split window mode with cmd-click on the fullscreen button.
You wouldn't happen to be running into bug 1403730, would you?

Another problem with running mozregression on 10.12 is that nightlies before 2016-07-12 don't start on 10.12. So you'll usually want to start it with "mozregression --good 2016-07-12".

Long click. Actually I just tried, and the cmd isn't necessary. Just click and hold.

I see. The other window is actually still in fullscreen mode.

After looking at this some more, it turns out that the first part here is actually expected. The window isn't invisible. It continues to be in fullscreen. If there is a bug here, it would be the second part of your statement: You should be able to access the fullscreen window via Mission Control and/or by right clicking (or option-clicking) on the Firefox icon in the dock and select the desired tab. Can you confirm whether or not this is working for you?

This is not working for me. I see the window listed there, but the result is the same as the Window menu: The visible window loses focus but the fullscreen window does not become visible.
Maybe this is a Mac OS X bug, because Mission Control and Launchpad no longer open at all. I'm going to reboot and try it all again.
The Window menu in Firefox seems like it should still function - by focusing the fullscreen window. If it's not an OS problem, this should be considered a bug on our end.

Correct. This would be a bug. Please also compare with Safari to see if other browsers are affected as well.
