This is not a bug... it's simpler way to use the mail program.
If i am working offline, and i open the mail program, i get for each mail and
news-account an error... so I can everytime 10times click ok...
My Idea: In Preferences a checkbox, 'notify my if not connected to server'
Reproducible: Always

If you're offline, just tell the program you're offline by clicking on the
offline indicator in the lower right hand corner of the window. There are also
bugs out there for making mozilla more aware of whether we're connected to the
network or not, and that would fix this problem as well.
