Currently the bn-BD locale is missing 2515 translated strings over Thunderbird and the Mozilla Platform.



Expected results:

We wanted to check in with you to see how is your Thunderbird localization is progressing. Currently the bn-BD locale is missing 2515 translated strings over Thunderbird and the Mozilla Platform. We know it can be hard to keep up with the new releases. In order to maintain the quality of localized Thunderbird builds we are considering to remove your locale for the time being, unless you are willing to make progress on the translations within reasonable time. Can you let us know what your plans are for Thunderbird, preferably until 2017-10-20? We appreciate all the hard work that you have done in the past and hope that you are willing to contribute further.

From bn-BD team, there is no plan to continue the localization of Thunderbird. People are using online tools these days more than the desktop application. So we decide to stop localizing Thunderbird in bn-BD.

What are the next steps for these bugs, in case a locale decides to stop localizing Thunderbird?

Once the locale is out of builds, I'd like to remove the folder from Mercurial referring this bug, so it can be recovered if needed but it won't show up in searches and checks.

I haven't touched the l10n repositories, I don't know what the process is there.

Should there be an interest in translating Thunderbird to Bengali in the future we would be delighted for you to rejoin!
