Steps to reproduce:

I update from 55 (64 bit) to firefox 56 (64 bit). With version 55 everything worked very fine. I have windows 10/64 with all updates.


Actual results:

After update firefox always tries to restore the taps that were open in the last session. It ignores any adjustment made in the setting. I can choose any page as start page or an empty page, it does not make any difference. 
I resetted firefox, no add-ons. But no difference. I tried to update to version 57 Beta, no difference. 
I played my system from backup back to the situation befor the update. Everything works fine!


Expected results:

Firefox should respect the own settings. If a starting page is selected, it should start with that. If an empty page is requested, firefox should start with an empty page. All version before 56 worked like this. No other changes than the update have been done on my computer.

This basically means that your Firefox crashed on shutdown and in that case it asks - just to be safe - if you want to restore.

So this isn't really an issue in Session Restore, but rather somewhere else that makes your Firefox 56 crash on shutdown.

Can you copy & paste the content of 'about:support' in this bug and a screenshot of your 'about:crashes' page? That way we can analyze things a bit better. Thanks!

I know it is critical and I am willing to delete iObit, thozgh I can deal with the advertisment by deleting several exe files.
I already deleted Avast SafePrice, I didn't even know I had it, I never noticed it on work.

But how can it be, that Firefox reacts without the settings changed. To me it look like a security problem, doesn't it? I would understand, if a program is changing the settings instead of the user, But this did not happen - as far as I can see.

Please regard, that I used Advanced System Care togethter with Firefox 54 without any problems. So neverstheless iObit is critical, there must have been a change in Firefox since the update to 55, that mede the fault occour. I made a reset to 54 and it disappoeared. I tried 56 Beta, and the fault is present.

These type of plugins do interfere with how Firefox functions on a low level and they can even cripple the browser. From Firefox 57 and onwards this is less of a possibility, because a whole family of addons can't be installed anymore - only WebExtension types.

Avast SafePrice, for example, is known to cause Firefox to misbehave (like you reported) and there is nothing, we developers, can do about it.

iObit is not critical to have as an addon in your browser. Whether it's critical to have on your system is your choice entirely, but it surely it _not_ for Firefox.

There is a interference between iObit Advanced System Care an Firefox 55. Firefox workes properly without Advanced System Care. After I started Advanced System Care I have the fault. When I stop all instances with the task manager and in the services, firefox works normal again.
