Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:56.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/56.0
Build ID: 20171003170937

Steps to reproduce:

Visit a web site. Drag the address in the URL bar (or a link on the web page) to the desktop/file system. This creates a file "Link to (web site...). Now drag that created file/link back into the browser.

Actual results:

It's not loading the page correctly. The URL bar refers to the site as "file://filesystemlocation/linkname.desktop", none of the images load, and all of the links within the page are pointing to "file:///..." locations.

Expected results:

It should have opened the web page, the same as if I had opened it from a bookmark. This only started happening when Firefox was upgraded to version 56. Prior versions worked as expected. I'm running Linux Mint 17. Bug report https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1408707 MAY be related, but things work as expected on my Windows 7 system running Firefox 56.0.1.
