Steps to reproduce:

Normal usage of my computer, running Firefox Developer Edition, having the webrender and webrendest options enabled.

Running Windows 10 Pro, Version 10.0.16299 Build 16299. 
Running Firefox Developer Edition 57.0b9.

I'm sure I probably need to inspect the 



Actual results:

In the normal usage of my computer, running Firefox Developer Edition, having the webrender and webrendest options enabled, my computer crashed during use, to the BSOD, with the error message SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.

I'm sure I need to inspect the crash dump somehow, but I'm not entirely sure the best way to do that, could anyone link me to some appropriate resources so i can provide more information?


Expected results:

My computer should not have crashed.
Also, I disabled the settings and have not crashed yet.

do you have latest graphics driver installed for your graphics card?
it looks like Intel HD Graphics driver 20.19.15.4463 is very old, and the issue might already be fixed in newer version if there is.
(note that user-level application cannot cause BSOD in theory, unless there's some issue in driver or OS or somewhere. and updating those parts may fix the issue)
I would also expect the nightly with webrender to behave a lot better than 57.

As far as I can tell, my integrated graphics are up to date, as well as my discreet GPU. I run a Microsoft Surface Book, so my updates come over Windows Update, even for Intel graphics, meaning that though there are newer builds, they don't install on my device.

I just downloaded and started nightly and I'll leave it running in the background for some time to see if it happens again. Since I disabled the flag on Developer Edition, it hasn't happened again, so I tend to believe the problem happened there.

I tend to agree with you- It just seems to be isolated to FF currently, which seems weird. It probably would indicate a bug in a driver, but if so, FF is the only thing triggering it so far.

I notice on my about:support page, at the bottom of the graphics section, it lists that Webrender is

Does this mean that potentially trying to enable a feature that isn't bundled with my build could cause problems?

If you're running 57 ("Build doesn't include WebRender") with the webrender pref enabled, you won't actually get webrender enabled. It should behave exactly the same as if you left the pref off. So there's probably no correlation between webrender and the BSOD you're seeing.
