Hi,

We'd ship Findbook.tw as search plugin as replacement of Amazon since Firefox 3.0 on zh-TW build *1, however, the service seems on halt since 2015.

After the discussion *2, we think it's better to replace it with Taaze.tw, another local online bookstore service. The staff from Taaze also agree to be bundled into Firefox. *3

Here is the search plugin of Taaze.tw, https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/taaze/

Please advise on the next step.

Since the searchplugin is broken, I'd suggest to split this into 2 bugs.

1) Remove the broken searchplugin. That's easy and fast to do, and can be moved to a different bug.

2) Add the other searchplugin. That's going to take longer, because we need B/D approval.

Is Amazon not supported at all in the region?

@Joanne
Can you confirm the procedure we should follow to add new searchplugins? Do we need to get this email updated with the search provider data, or there's more?

:flod,

Yes amazon and ebay is not operating in Taiwan, we replace it with two service since 2008
1) Yahoo Bid as online used market and 2) findbook.tw as online bookstore
btw current findbook searchplugin is still workable.
they seems to stop ship update, but the feature (find budget bookstore link) is still working for now.
Moving back to zh-TW component, expect the removal commit imminent.

Flod, is it possible to ship the new searchplugin with 57, if we can make the legal stuff quick?

Actually, the commit to remove it needs to happen in mozilla-central, and it's not a simple procedure. If you confirm it should be removed, I can take care of it.

The bug can stay here or in Firefox::Search, not much of a difference ;-)

No, there's no way we're going to be able to ship a new searchplugin in the 57 timeframe.
Depends on: 1411616
Split removal in bug 1411616.
Summary: [p12n] Replace findbook.tw searchplugin with taaze.tw → [p12n] Add taaze.tw to searchplugins shipping in Firefox desktop
pass to Flod based on comment 5.

yes let's remove it at first -before it really dead- and add a new one later.
Status: ASSIGNED → NEW
Can someone please provide the contact at taaze.tw so the BD team can contact them about signing our one-page agreement, which allows Mozilla the right to use their trademark in search?

Theresa is the main contact point at Taaze.

If we want to make it really transparent, you can do it on the discuss local community thread (openly on net), she is also in the thread,
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/moztw-general/-V2T39FG-OE/LL3gNVjhAwAJ

Or contact her and please cc'ed us on admin on moztw.org

We (local contributor) can also help to reach her, send the agreement through email or in person, if BD think it's more convenience, we had done this many times ago and on 2008.
@Joanne
Were you able to get in touch?

My apologies, I didn't see this until last week. I setup time with legal this week to update our one-page agreement and as soon as I have the newest version will reach out to Theresa. If anyone wants more information on why we need this agreement, please feel free to reach out to me via email.

Again, my apologies that I didn't see the needinfo until late last week.

Hi Irvin,

Could you help me get the following information from Theresa? I just need to update the letter and have legal review it, then I'll attach to the bug for your to forward to her for signature. I think that's probably easiest, unless you do not feel comfortable - then I can send to her directly.

Here is what I need:
* Legal Name of Provider's Search Service
* Address
* Address
* Address
* Signatory's Name and Title
* Provider's Contact Person for Implementation:
- Name
- email address
- phone number

Thanks for your help!

working on that, will get back once I got it.
We're unable to get response from Taaze's staff for more than one month. After sent two final request emails and one public request to them, I decided to abandon Taaze and swtich to our next choice "Readmoo", bug 1430075 filed. Thanks.
