A while back when I made this profile on 2017-08-15, I worked with some of the browser-integrated Pocket stuff and eventually signed into Pocket using a flow initiated by Firefox UX somewhere. However, in the time since, the about:newtab "Pocket Recommends" (not actual name) section has never switched over to "Pocket Recommends For You Specifically", which is far more interesting and relevant to me.
Pocket's web page has at least one "Recommended For You" suggestion, derived in whatever manner from my hundreds of currently-saved links, so it is certain that Pocket's backend servers could be recommending me links in about:newtab. This bug is either reporting that we're failing to pick up "user logged in" at about:newtab properly, or it's a feature request for the current implementation. I'm not sure which, sorry.

Thanks for the report :atoll. The Pocket feed on about:newtab and about:home is generic, so everyone sees a curated feed. We are definitely exploring deeper integration and personalization capability with Pocket.
