User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:56.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/56.0
Build ID: 20171024165158
Steps to reproduce:
Log on to Firefox (it started with the upgrade to FF 56 and continues with 56.0.2. After ten minutes or more (sometimes as much as 20 minutes) the keyboard begins to act erratically. It freezes, then works, then will let you type some more and then freezes again. This repeats over & over until I log off or reboot.
Actual results:
Keyboard stops working. Just freezes and then suddenly will display what I typed but without spaces, etc. Very erratic behavior.
Expected results:
Keyboard should work as as intended. Never had this problem and have used Firefox since it's inception. I downloaded Google Chrome and have used it for hours without the problem occurring. I also tried to use IE11 and the problem did not occur. It only started when I upgraded to FF 56 and continued with 56.0.2/ It is absolutely connected to FF 56. I use Windows 7/64 bit

I had already reset FF before posting. The problem remains. This has been going on for a couple of weeks so I now use Chrome as my main browser but attempt to use FF at least once each day........but after a few minutes of use, the keyboard becomes erratic again. It appears that nobody else is having this problem?
I have NO problem if I use Chrome or IE11.

I have tested this issue on Windows 7 x64 and Windows 10 x64 with the latest Firefox release (56.0.2) and the latest Nightly (58.0a1-20171031220132) and haven't managed to reproduce it.
After browsing on different websites for more than >10 minutes, the browser is responsive and all the keyboard or mouse actions are behaving correctly.
Can you please retest this using the latest Nightly build and report back the results? (You can download the latest Nightly build from here https://goo.gl/57dpxn)
When doing this, please use a new clean Firefox profile, maybe even safe mode, to eliminate custom settings as a possible cause (https://goo.gl/5e2u3q).
Thank you!

As suddenly as this started with the download of FF 56, this morning, it is working fine. I had not downloaded the nightly build yet so I had made NO additional changes and nothing updated. It's a mystery to me because it kept reoccurring until I would log off of windows or reboot until the next time that it would become erratic. At this point it has worked all day with no glitches.
Thanks for the responses.

Considering the fact that I cannot reproduce this and based on Comment 4 from the reporter, changing status to RESOLVED WORKS FOR ME.
If anyone can reproduce it on latest versions, feel free to reopen the issue and provide more information.
