From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.0rc1) Gecko/20020417 BuildID: 2002041711 If I put my mail folders on drive where I have no write permission, Mozilla displays only the top-level folders, and they're empty. It probably happens because it cannot rebuild summary files. I did this for sharing mail folders between Windows and Linux, and erroneously had no write permission on the FAT disk. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Put folder files on a place without write permission. 2. Configure Mozilla Mail to look for the folders there. 3. Sit back and enjoy. Expected Results: I would expect it to at least give back some diagnostics on missing permissions (and probably even to display all the folders!). I can think of other scenarios of when I would like to read mail folders on a write-protected drive: for instance, storing them on CD-ROM.
That's fine, but you can't. The index files must be built. You can always import or copy the files from the CD-rom, but you can't read from them.
