The statsd container in the local development environment uses Grafana and isn't set up right, so it's unusable. As near as I can tell, either metrics aren't making it to the container or I'm having difficulties finding the metrics in Grafana. Also, because the container is ephemeral and we're not saving dashboards between runs, it might be easier to switch to graphite. This bug covers fixing this.
