1414458 - Firefox has no 'add bookmark here' function and the extension that used to add it cannot be ported to web extensions

Steps to reproduce:

I tried to add a bookmark to an existing bookmark folder.


Actual results:

I found no way of doing it, save dragging the 'i' icon from the left of the URL bar to the folder, which (1) is not intuitive, (2) is fiddly, (3) does not always work, in that I can't manage to get the folder I want to open without aborting the drag.



Expected results:

It should be easy to perform this fairly essential task, at least via an extension. However, the Add Bookmark Here extension no longer works and has little prospect of working; see

You can also drag the tab, or pick a folder from the star button panel.

Btw, there's currently no API to modify the History/Bookmarks contextual menus, that is probably a valid request for a WebExtension API. Not sure if it's a dupe though.

I'll leave it those more adept at navigating bugzilla to try (harder than I did) to see if there is any related extant request for a webextension API.
