Examples: I have a multicolored scroll bar with no up and down arrows or slider. Mousing over the accelerator buttons at the lower left yields multi-colored messes where the buttons used to be but the button functions still work, same on the side bar selectors (e.g., "search results", "bookmarks", "history", etc.). Also text is not always displayed correctly (e.g., I just resized this window to force a redraw so I could see what I typed in "steps to reproduce.") Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: See summary. Set a system up for 1600x1200x24 bit color. F.Y.I. I just swapped monitors between my old system and my new box. Worked fine on old system with high-end monitor that I couldn't really take advantage of since the video card only had 16 MB of RAM. New system has a 64 MB video but was attached to an old monitor that only did 1024x768. Actual Results: Scroll bars not drawn correctly, this entry window and previous don't display the text I typed. Hopefully I'm not making too many typos. Expected Results: Decorations correct and I can see what I'm typing.
Tried setting the display between my two Linux boxes and opening a browser window. The problem seems to be strictly on the high resolution/high color depth display. If I ssh to the box with 24bit color and then start Mozilla (ssh handles redirecting the display), the display is fine on the low res/color depth box. Likewise, if I ssh to the low res box (display is on the high res box) and start Mozilla, I get the same effects. The only other app that has this behavior is Galeon. The GIMP, Open Office, nedit, balsa, etc. have all behaved as expected.

Probem went away after a reboot. Sorry about the noise. Had some REALLY interesting affects until I rebooted. A restart of X may have been sufficient to solved the problem. NOt used to Linux/X needing a restart to sort things out... that's too much like Windoze.
