User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:59.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/59.0 Build ID: 20171114100042 Steps to reproduce: 1. open gmail.com, and log in. 2. run the NVDA screen reader, make sure accessibility is on. 3. now, press ,, while in focus mode, with focus on the table of email. 4. After the "select" button menu appears, press tab. You will eventually land on the refresh button. Actual results: it froze for several seconds. Expected results: It should let tab go to the refresh button.

Confirmed. I chatted with Derek and got his NVDA log for this: IO - inputCore.InputManager.executeGesture (23:53:21.517): Input: kb(desktop):tab IO - speech.speak (23:53:30.035): Speaking [u'Refresh button'] That's 8.518 seconds from pressing tab to hearing the announcement. On my system, I do see a freeze, but while it's still bad, it's not *quite* as bad: IO - inputCore.InputManager.executeGesture (17:02:15.453): Input: kb(desktop):tab IO - speech.speak (17:02:17.857): Speaking [LangChangeCommand ('en_GB'), u'Refresh button'] That's 2.404 seconds. My machine is quite a bit faster.

I can no longer reproduce this. There were further performance enhancements in Firefox 60 and later. In addition, there have been some very recent changes to NVDA (NVDA PR #8678) which provide major performance improvements for Firefox. Gmail has also launched a new interface, so that may or may not be a factor here.
