Hey Tracy, could you set up arch linux on a vm and see if you can reproduce this?

We get reports like this from time to time on webcompat.com: https://github.com/webcompat/web-bugs/issues/11415#issuecomment-334508034

The reporter's comment suggested that somehow his PDF content handler flipped from acrobat to Firefox, causing the bug.
Per 842943 comment 10: "please try to configure PDF Document to use "Preview in Firefox" in the Preferences->Applications, otherwise your configuration is invalid". Can you reproduce this bug with the aforementioned configuration?

In Win 10 it was set by default as 'Use TWINUI (default)'.
Changing this to 'Preview in Firefox' has solved my issue raised in duplicate bug 1418733.

thanks, Al

Tracy, can you try to reproduce this in win10 as well? thanks.
I am able to reproduce this, in a way, on Windows 10 in latest Nightly, 59.0a1, 20171204.

1) Download a PDF
2) Select Open with Nightly.

tested results:
The PDF isn't opened. another tab is opened with dialog again asking what to do (Open with Nightly or Save As)

Dupe of bug 1417668?
This sounds pretty bad and has several duplicate reports.
Brendan, can you help find an owner for this bug if you think it's actionable?
This is a duplicate of bug 842943. That bug has been closed, but maybe we should re-open to see if there's something better we can do here since we've had a number of people run into this.
