I don't think this is strictly related to Night mode, only that it is more visible in Night mode. See video without Night Mode On. -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-Ocbzz5hxE.
Also noticed this behaviour in Safari. This was tested on cnn.com on master eedc08e7349.
