Until a few months ago we didn't even update the URL bar properly in this case (bug 1337264) and recently I managed to break this again (bug 1417918). So we should add a test that opens a page and then manipulates the URL using the history API and then check whether the URL bar and back/forward buttons were updated properly.
We have completed our launch of our new Firefox on Android. The development of the new versions use GitHub for issue tracking.
