User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0 Build ID: 20171123171849 Steps to reproduce: Start a download. Actual results: Seems that the download don't start, so I retry the action. But then I saw the file is getting downloaded twice. Expected results: The animation of the download icon (top right) needs to be more visible, the new icon is pretty but so thin, and I don't get the visual response when a download starts.

I've noticed this as well, with the default action set to save to the Downloads folder the only indication a new download has started is a small bump animation and the progress bar turning pale which is very easy to miss. Bug 1387557 would help but Bug 1269954 would give a much more affirmative notification.
